Hike Oregon's Famous Rogue River
Hiking the Oregon Rogue River
Hike along the Rogue River Imagine abundant wildlife in the Rogue River corridor such as beaver, deer, elk, bald eagles, osprey, mallards, cougars and black bears. Being able to walk the trail and look down at those on rafts or to be on a raft looking up at those on the trail. And, you can do both of these, or one or the other. You can walk part of the way each day and join the rafters after lunch, or raft in the morning and walk in the afternoon. Or, for those who are die-hard walkers, you can walk the entire trail. If floating down the river is your thing, you can do the entire trip that way.

Raft the pristine Rogue River that was the third river in the US designated as Wild and Scenic under the Wild and Scenic Act of Congress. This river was made famous by the author, Zane Grey, who wrote many novels at his river hut. The Rogue River is one of the most dramatic white water rivers in the United Stats, going from placid to Class IV rapids.

Dinosaur Tree along the Rogue River Walk the trail alongside and above the Rogue River, seeing old-growth Douglas fir trees, banks of wildflowers, waterfalls, and fern grottos which make you think you are in New Zealand.

Stay in three different wilderness lodges along the way, each unique to the Rogue River and canyon but all very, very special with family-style meals, private bedrooms and baths, but away from the elements of "civilization" such as power lines and telephone lines! Generators power all the lodges and the only way in is by the river or on the trail.

Spend a day at Crater Lake, the deepest lake in the United States and the second deepest in the western hemisphere, and having lunch at the lodge overlooking this marvel of nature.

Carry only your water, camera, and rain gear in your day pack while your clothes and coolers float down the river via rafts in waterproof bags.
